Restoration Project - Work in Progress
Situated on a 68-hectare plot of beautiful natural habitat along the western coastline, the property includes an oak woodland of Portuguese cork trees. The farmhouse, originally in ruins, is being extended with a single-storey addition that aligns with the symmetry of the existing structure.
As part of the restoration, the team has replaced the floors with an insulated slab and high-quality finishes. A new roof structure featuring exposed timber beams and traditional clay tiles has also been installed. The use of these materials not only respects the architectural heritage of the region but also ensures durability and aesthetic appeal.
The project, which is still in progress and scheduled for completion in Autumn 2024, will feature new windows and doors designed to enhance both functionality and style. Two log burners will be installed to provide efficient heating. Additionally, the walls will be finished with traditional lime plaster, chosen for its breathability and use of natural materials, which helps maintain a healthy indoor environment by allowing moisture to escape and improving indoor air quality.
Overall, the restoration and extension of this farmhouse are being carefully executed to blend modern living standards with the charm and authenticity of the original structure, all while preserving the natural beauty of its surroundings.
